The course duration is 5½ years (4.5 years of classroom study followed by a year of rotating internship). The 4.5 years of classroom study is broken into 3 phases of 18 months each. Each phase of 18 months is known as Professional and is further divided into 3 semesters of 6 months each. There is a semester exam at the end of each semester and a Professional exam at the end of each professional.
Mbbs Admission Process
Although MBBS is not the only degree required to become a doctor in India, as other alternative medical branches of medicine such as Ayurveda and Homeopathy exist, it remains the most coveted of all medical degrees in India. An MBBS degree in India requires 12 years of study, and admission to most medical colleges in India is based on the medical entrance test of various medical colleges. The National Testing Agency (NTA) also administers the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) for admission to all Government and Private medical colleges in India.

Eligibility criteria for medical admission (MBBS) in India are strictly based on the Medical Council of India’s Rules and Regulations (MCI).
Candidates seeking admission to the MBBS programme in India must have passed the Class 12th examination with a grade point average of 50 percent in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) for the general category and 40 percent for the backward category.Age Requirements: Candidates must be 17 years old on or before the 31st of December of the year of admission.
